Why I'm Doing Another Portfolio

  • Creating a portfolio is not a requirement for the completion of the USMx IDT200x course.  However, I found that the process of writing as I progressed through the IDT100x course helped me articulate my thoughts better, and as a result, I got more from the experience.  I wanted to have that again with this course.

  • I wanted to stretch my right-brain muscles by playing with different ways to deliver a message visually.

  • I like the idea of my future self being able to come back to this page to re-live my learning journey :-).

About edX USMx IDT200x (Instructional Design Models)

This course focuses on traditional instructional design models and the progression of the learning design approach to creating online learning experiences.  The course will cover:

  • How to apply instructional design models to develop online
    learning experiences

  • How to collaborate with a subject matter expert

  • How to create a design document to guide the online course development process

The Rapid eLearning model encompasses the same processes as traditional learning models like ADDIE; however, the processes are a scaled-down version of each step.  Develop your own rapid resolution document based on the ADDIE Model. To begin, review the ADDIE Mindmap you submitted in module 2, especially the action steps for each level of ADDIE.

  1. Summarize the action steps you identified for each step of your ADDIE assignment

  2. Describe how those same steps would be executed in the Rapid model. Be sure you address timeliness, quality effectiveness, and roles/responsibilities

  3. Conclude your plan with an example of an ADDIE task and how it would be modified under the Rapid model.

Passionate about training. Has been training and facilitating since 1996. Currently a training developer, works closely with the company president. Develops training modules in the US, and travels to the Philippines a few times a year to facilitate modules and work with other facilitators in the company.  

Considers training development a wonderful extension to training: it's not about taking just the participants through the journey, but taking the facilitators through it so that they can take their participants through the journey.

Remember, ADDIE is a framework that continuously changes based on the scope of the learning project and identified learning audience.
