Week 6: Audio for eLearning
Activity: Creating Digital Audio

This module demonstrated the power of a simple digital media tool like audio can be for effective learning design and development. Whether you create your own audio files to customize your learning plan or choose some of the many existing resources to supplement your ideas, implementing digital audio to enhance learning can easily be done.
For this week’s activity, create your own audio file to supplement a single objective or learning activity. The activity is one you will create as an independent activity or you can create an audio file to support a past learning design project. For this activity you will need to submit the following:

-
Instructional Need / Objective
-
Learning Activity audience
-
URL for audio file
-
Reflection: In 3 - 5 sentences describe why you chose the resource you did, the value/benefit it adds to the end user learning experience, and summarize your rationale in developing the learning objective for this activity.
Post the assignment to the Week 6 Activity Submission forum using the “Add a Post” option. If you can copy and paste into the forum please do so. You can also consider alternative document posting via Google document or other resolutions you may have used to post assignment documents.
Learning Activity Audience:

Participants who are currently taking the Compassionate Communication course and have finished Lesson 3 (Feelings) and Lesson 4 (Needs).

Instructional Need/ Objective:

Given the eLearning videos and classroom discussions on Compassionate Communication, the course handouts, and the resource list, participants will be able to access supplementary material (in the form of podcast episodes) at their convenience to learn more about how to apply Compassionate Communication in daily life.
Reflection:
I had originally planned to play clips of popular songs in my podcast to use as a way to help participants practicing identifying feelings and needs, and then I learned I couldn't really do that in an internet-published podcast and not risk copyright infringement :-(. So what I decided to do instead was to pick a song that has a very high probability rate of being known and then just describe the song instead of playing it.

Audacity is becoming easier to use. I'm currently in a location with a LOT of background noise, and the Noise Reduction feature has been a godsend :-D. Combining narration with background music is also easier. I'd always assumed podcasting would be a lot of work, but now that I'm moving faster than the last time I used Audacity, it's quickly becoming a more feasible option for me to use to support training.
